OpenAI Launches Astra for Law
OpenAI released Astra for Law, a GPT-6 Astra configuration built for legal professionals. It ships with a legal search index covering more than 230 million URLs across U.S. case law, federal and state statutes, regulations, court rules, and administrative decisions.
The index draws from CourtListener, a library maintained by the nonprofit Free Law Project. OpenAI says it covers more than 99.9% of published U.S. precedential case law. New sources are added daily.
Major law firms including Latham & Watkins, Ropes & Gray, Cooley, and Sullivan & Cromwell are early adopters. API customers Harvey and Legora will build on the model. Astra for Law is available through Trusted Access in ChatGPT and Codex, with 26 partner plugins and 47 community plugins launching alongside it.
Google Expands CC Agent to Families
Google Labs expanded its personal AI agent CC into a shared family agent that supports up to six household members. Each person chooses what the agent can see, giving every member control over their own data boundaries.
CC pulls together Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Drive data from participating members. It consolidates school notices, practice schedules, and appointment reminders into a shared daily briefing, calendar entries, and a running task list.
CC first launched as a personal agent in December 2025. The family expansion is available to users aged 18 and older in the U.S. with a personal Google account. Existing users will receive an upgrade email; new users can join a waitlist.
EU Proposes KIDS Act Targeting AI Companions for Minors
The European Commission proposed the EU KIDS Act on September 17. The act covers social media, video-sharing platforms, online games, app stores, operating systems, AI companions, and conversational chatbots.
Three provisions stand out. Children under 13 are banned from social media. AI chatbots and companions must be switched off by default for minors. Addictive features, profiling-based recommendation feeds, and personalized ads driven by past activity are prohibited.
Non-compliance carries fines of up to 6% of global annual turnover. Platforms that fail to verify user age when creating accounts also face penalties. The rules apply to every very large online platform serving users under 18.

NVIDIA Forecasts Doubling Chip Sales Next Year
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang told media at an AI summit with King Charles III in Scotland that the company expects to sell twice as many chips next year as it does this year. Huang attributed the demand to AI investment across “almost every single country.”
NVIDIA’s guidance for the fiscal year ending January 2028 projects roughly $673 billion in revenue, a 70% year-over-year increase. CFO Colette Kress noted the company remains supply-constrained and that doubling sales would require sufficient supply to meet demand.
Crusoe Closes $3.9B Series F at $30.9B Valuation
Denver-based AI infrastructure company Crusoe completed the initial close of its $3.9 billion Series F at a $30.9 billion post-money valuation. Atreides Management, Mubadala Capital, and Valor Equity Partners co-led the round.
Other investors include NVIDIA, Founders Fund, GIC, the Qatar Investment Authority, Radical Ventures, and TPG. Crusoe operates a vertically integrated AI infrastructure platform with over $140 billion in total contracted value. The company is scaling from large campuses to modular Crusoe Spark units.
Three new board members joined: Cloudflare CFO Thomas Seifert, Primary Digital Infrastructure partner Bill Stein, and Redwood Materials CEO JB Straubel, who also serves on Tesla’s board.

Kubeflow Graduates from CNCF
The Kubernetes-native AI/ML platform Kubeflow earned CNCF’s highest maturity designation: Graduated. Graduation confirms that a project is mature, widely adopted, and production-ready.
Kubeflow has recorded nearly 260 million Python package downloads. More than 6,600 developers across over 1,000 organizations contribute to the project. The same period saw CNCF graduate Cloud Native Buildpacks and Karmada and release Kubernetes v1.37.
Kubernetes v1.37, codenamed Garhwal, ships 67 enhancements: 16 features graduated to Stable, 23 to Beta, and 27 entered Alpha.
jev-ultrafast Trends on GitHub
The browser-use team’s jev-ultrafast climbed to the top of GitHub Trending. It is a browser agent that autonomously executes web tasks from a single natural-language goal, earning about 3,000 stars.
A demonstration showing a Google Flights search from Zurich to London completed in 7.1 seconds drew attention. Unlike conventional browser agents, jev-ultrafast skips a planning phase and executes immediately. The demo ran against a live site at 1x speed.
