Legato Emerges from Stealth with $12M for AI Hearing Glasses

Boston-based Legato has raised $12 million from Neotribe Ventures, Listen, and Village Global, unveiling AI-powered hearing-assistance glasses. CEO Mehul Trivedi previously led the development of Bose Frames, and President Steve Romine headed Bose’s hearing aid division.

Legato Frames integrate patented hearing-assistance technology into the arms of standard eyewear. The company is targeting a price point well below traditional hearing aids, and purchases through eye care clinics may qualify for vision insurance coverage. Four patents have been granted with over 20 more pending.

The wearable hearing market has grown since Apple’s AirPods Pro received hearing aid approval. Legato’s bet is that an eyeglasses form factor reduces the stigma barrier that keeps many people from adopting hearing assistance.

Deepslate Closes Seed Round for GDPR-Compliant Voice AI

Berlin-based Deepslate has closed a seed round led by Alstin Capital, with SIVentures and 42Cap participating. The company is building its own audio foundation model, following an earlier pre-seed from SIVentures.

The platform supports over 27 languages with sub-250ms response latency, targeting regulated European industries such as banking, insurance, and healthcare. All data processing stays on EU-based servers, with full GDPR compliance and self-hosting options.

While US-based voice AI services default to cloud processing, Deepslate positions itself as the privacy-first alternative for European enterprises that cannot send customer data offshore.

Google Ships Googlebook on October 4

Google is launching the Googlebook, successor to the Chromebook, on October 4 in the United States. Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, and Australia follow on October 5.

The headline change is the operating system. Googlebooks run Aluminium OS, which merges Android and ChromeOS into a single platform. This is the first shipping product since Google announced the OS unification in July 2025. Five OEMs are on board for the launch wave: Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo.

Google emphasizes that Googlebook is a new premium tier, not a forced migration. Existing Chromebooks will continue receiving Chrome OS updates through their committed support windows. The Lenovo Googlebook starts at $1,149.99 with an Intel Core Ultra 5 325, 16GB RAM, and 512GB storage.

Tesla Posts Record Q3 Deliveries at 486,532

Tesla delivered 486,532 vehicles in Q3 2026, setting a new quarterly record. Model 3/Y accounted for 478,237 units, with 8,295 from other models. Energy storage deployments hit 13.7 GWh, also a record.

Wall Street consensus had ranged around 460,000 units, making this a clear beat. The SEC 8-K filing shows production at over 464,000, meaning deliveries outpaced production and inventory levels declined.

Analysts attribute part of the strength to demand pull-forward ahead of the US EV tax credit expiration. Full financial results are scheduled for October 21.

Windows 11 26H2 Rolls Out in October

Microsoft is shipping Windows 11 version 26H2 this October. Users already on 24H2 or 25H2 can upgrade via a 174KB enablement package that requires just one restart.

The practical reason to upgrade is support longevity. Installing 26H2 extends security updates through October 2028. Staying on 24H2 Home or Pro means updates end after October 13, 2026.

Feature-wise, 26H2 is not a dramatic change. It consolidates improvements Microsoft has already shipped through monthly quality updates into a single version milestone.

Final Fantasy Resonance Launches October 22 as the First HD-2D FF

Square Enix is shipping Final Fantasy Resonance on October 22 for PS5, Switch 2, PC, and Xbox Series. It is the first Final Fantasy title built in the HD-2D art style proven by Octopath Traveler and Triangle Strategy.

The game draws from the now-defunct mobile title Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius but strips out gacha mechanics for a standalone turn-based RPG experience. Series favorites including Cloud Strife and Tidus make appearances, alongside classic elements like airships and crystals.

A Digital Deluxe Edition and a Collector’s Edition with an artbook and soundtrack are available alongside the standard release.

GeForce NOW Adds 25 Games in October

NVIDIA is adding 25 titles to GeForce NOW throughout October. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered is now streamable for Performance and Ultimate members, and Gears of War: E-Day entered early access on October 1.

The expanding cloud gaming library continues to lower the hardware barrier for AAA titles. With GTA 6 arriving in November, studios are front-loading their October release calendars.
