Google Unveils Gemini 4 Argon with Restricted Access for Cyber Defenders

Google has released Gemini 4 Argon, its latest frontier model optimized for software engineering, enterprise knowledge work in legal and finance, and cybersecurity defense. The output token limit has been raised from 64,000 to one million, allowing deeper single-pass reasoning.

On the cybersecurity front, Argon can autonomously discover, validate, and patch critical vulnerabilities. Access is currently limited to trusted cyber defenders through the Fairwind Program, and Google is participating in the US government’s voluntary pre-release access process.

Introductory API pricing sits at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, with a 95% discount on cached input. After the introductory period, prices will double to $4 and $20 respectively. Broader rollout to developers and consumers will follow, starting with paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers.

OpenAI and Synopsys Partner on GPT-Synopsys for Chip Design

OpenAI and Synopsys have entered a multi-year strategic partnership to co-develop GPT-Synopsys, a specialized AI model for semiconductor design. The model aims to operate Synopsys EDA tools like a seasoned engineer, autonomously optimizing chip design and verification.

The agreement includes revenue sharing and joint go-to-market collaboration. Customer data will be stored encrypted and never used for training. Early testing with semiconductor customers is already underway, and Synopsys shares jumped 7% following the announcement.

This marks a significant step in AI-driven semiconductor design automation. Competition between Synopsys and Cadence in the EDA market is likely to shift toward AI capabilities as a key differentiator.

Broadcom Commits Up to $42 Billion in Chip Financing for Anthropic

Broadcom has agreed to lend Anthropic up to $42 billion in convertible notes, as disclosed in Anthropic’s IPO filing. The facility covers roughly one-third of Anthropic’s $125.2 billion five-year TPU computing capacity lease commitment.

The notes can convert into Anthropic equity, though the company stated they will not be sold before the IPO. Conversion price, maturity date, and interest terms remain undisclosed. The filing also flags potential conflicts of interest arising from Broadcom’s dual role as chip supplier and financier.

The deal positions Anthropic to become Broadcom’s largest chip design client by 2027. AI infrastructure investment has entered the tens-of-billions range per deal.

Micron Posts Record Q4 FY2026 Revenue of $54.2 Billion

Micron Technology reported Q4 FY2026 revenue of $54.23 billion, nearly quadrupling from $11.32 billion a year earlier. Gross margin hit a record 86.25%.

CEO Sanjay Mehrotra stated that memory demand will exceed supply in both 2027 and 2028, with “no line of sight to when supply and demand will return to balance.” Long-term supply contracts have grown from 16 to 26, and over 75% of fiscal 2027 output is already committed. SK Hynix does not expect equilibrium before 2030.

AI infrastructure investment continues to drive structural memory demand. HBM-led supply shortages will persist for the foreseeable future.

Reddit Ends Public API Access and Tightens AI Scraping Controls

Reddit is stepping up its response to AI scraping. RSS feeds will be retired in November, and legacy public API access will end in March 2027. No new public API access requests will be accepted after October 31.

Old Reddit access is now restricted to logged-in users who have used the classic interface within the past six months. Existing licensing agreements with Google and OpenAI remain in place, but future data licensing will shift from flat annual fees to usage-based dynamic pricing. Reddit is renegotiating tighter terms with Google on their $60 million annual deal.

The move balances monetizing user-generated content with blocking unauthorized scraping. AI search services face rising data access costs.

AI cybersecurity startup Armadin, led by Mandiant founder Kevin Mandia, has closed a $255.5 million Series B co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and Accel. The round values the company at over $2.5 billion, bringing total funding to $445 million.

Bain Capital Ventures, Redpoint, GV, In-Q-Tel, and Kleiner Perkins also participated. Seven months after exiting stealth, Armadin is running agentic attack campaigns in production for Fortune 500 enterprises and government customers.

The agentic AI security platform automates what traditional penetration testing does manually. Investment in AI-driven cybersecurity continues to accelerate.

Homeward Secures $120M Series D for Proptech Expansion

US proptech startup Homeward has closed a $120 million Series D led by Saluda Grade, alongside a $330 million asset-backed debt facility. Total equity raised since its 2018 founding now stands at $360 million.

Citi Ventures, Magnetar Capital, Norwest, and LiveOak Ventures participated. Homeward enables homebuyers to purchase a new home with a cash offer before selling their existing property, using bridge financing solutions.

Investment in technology-driven real estate solutions continues despite a sluggish US housing market.

OpenRig Orchestrates Claude Code and Codex as a Single Agent Team

The TypeScript CLI tool OpenRig has entered the GitHub trending list. It lets users define an agent team in YAML, then runs Claude Code and Codex side by side in managed tmux sessions. A lead agent distributes objectives while specialist agents collaborate through cross-agent messaging.

Features include broadcast channels, shared chatrooms, a terminal UI dashboard for monitoring team state, and snapshot/restore for capturing full team states. The project is Apache 2.0 licensed and has reached v0.5.17.

Multi-agent orchestration tooling is seeing growing demand. OpenRig gained 781 GitHub stars in a single day, reflecting strong developer interest.

AIHOT: Automated AI News Curation Framework Gains 4,400+ Stars

The TypeScript-based news curation framework AIHOT has climbed the GitHub trending charts with over 4,400 stars. It ingests data from RSS feeds, web pages, JSON APIs, X accounts, and WeChat official accounts.

Content goes through LLM dual-scoring for filtering, followed by event clustering to consolidate multiple sources covering the same story. Users can define their own information sources and selection criteria to build specialized news hubs. Self-hosting is supported with MCP integration available.

The project represents the growing trend of AI agents automating information curation. It addresses demand for personalized, automated news collection.
