NVIDIA’s Jensen Huang Signals Willingness to Cut Chip Supply for Unsafe AI
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang told Bloomberg’s Emily Chang in a London interview that he would halt chip supply to customers developing unsafe AI. He framed it as “a hypothetical, but yes,” adding that he would have a conversation before taking action.
Huang pushed back on Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei’s call for an industry-wide slowdown. He described current safety fears as partly “self-imposed” and questioned whether the level of concern is warranted. At the same time, he pledged $250 million over five years for UK AI safety research, providing computing resources to Oxford, UCL, and other British institutions.
No specific customer has been named or cut off. The statement is notable not as a policy change but as the world’s dominant AI chip supplier publicly tying supply to safety standards. Whether this translates into concrete enforcement remains to be seen.
Meta’s New Business Terms Allow Publisher Website Scraping for AI Training
Meta’s updated business terms, effective October 30, authorize automated tools to crawl websites tied to Meta business products and use that content for AI training. The change covers any business running pages, ads, or marketing through Meta’s platform.
Three legal experts warned the terms could provide a basis for scraping news sites. One attorney noted that enforceability is uncertain, but publishers should assume the worst. Meta has already been operating the Meta-ExternalAgent crawler, which only about 17% of sites block via robots.txt.
For publishers, the dilemma is structural. Using Meta’s business products while also claiming content protection becomes harder under these terms. The change arrives as AI training data sourcing faces increasing legal scrutiny worldwide.
AI Infrastructure Stocks Crash as CoreWeave Hits Post-IPO Low
CoreWeave shares plunged on October 14-15, hitting a post-IPO low of $60.36 as debt concerns mounted. Some bonds yielded above 15%, and credit-default-swap spreads exceeded 1,000 basis points, highlighting the roughly $52 billion in debt and lease obligations on the company’s books.
Oracle fell about 10% over the same period, while Nebius Group and Iren each dropped more than 10%. Data center stocks as a group have fallen an average of 53% from their six-month highs. South Korea’s KOSPI also tumbled 7% amid capital cost anxieties.
The selloff is not about weakening AI demand. It reflects growing doubt about the financial sustainability of building data centers on massive leverage in a high-rate environment. CoreWeave said the debt metrics do not signal imminent default, but rebuilding investor confidence will take time.

Modal Triples Valuation to $15.75B with $750M Series D
AI inference infrastructure startup Modal closed a $750 million Series D led by Accel, reaching a post-money valuation of $15.75 billion. Kleiner Perkins joined as a new investor alongside existing backers Menlo Ventures and General Catalyst, bringing total funding to $1.2 billion.
Modal’s annualized run rate crossed $1 billion, growing more than 15x year over year. The valuation more than tripled from $4.65 billion at its May Series C. Sandboxes have emerged as the fastest-growing product, accounting for roughly $300 million of the run rate.
The growth stands in contrast to the CoreWeave selloff. Modal provides cloud compute directly to developers without the massive capital expenditure of building data centers. Revenue and valuation figures are company-reported and have not been independently audited.
Abby Care Raises $82M Series C for Family Caregiver Model
Home healthcare startup Abby Care closed an $82 million Series C led by Transformation Capital. New investors include CVS Health Ventures, Frist Cressey Ventures, and Pivotal Ventures, while Khosla Ventures, Thrive Capital, and Sequoia participated as returning backers.
Abby Care operates as a Medicaid provider that trains and certifies family members as paid caregivers. Forbes’ 2026 list previously noted $45 million in equity raised and a $225 million valuation, likely reflecting an earlier round.
The model ties growth directly to Medicaid reimbursement, which varies by state and can shift with policy changes. Revenue, current valuation, and the number of certified caregivers have not been disclosed.

Perplexity Open-Sources SPACE, Its Agent Sandbox Platform
Perplexity released SPACE, the sandbox platform powering its Computer agent, under the Apache 2.0 license. Built on Firecracker microVMs, SPACE supports pause, resume, session forking, and per-session credential isolation.
SPACE has handled all Computer sessions since July, processing millions of sandbox creations daily. Perplexity reports 3-5x faster sandbox creation compared to its previous commercial provider on equivalent traffic. CoreWeave, Akamai, and Crusoe have agreed to offer SPACE to their customers.
Agent execution security is a critical unsolved challenge. SPACE’s open-source release could accelerate standardization of agent sandboxing. Performance and scale claims are company-reported.
ONLYOFFICE 10.0 Ships with AI Tools and Modular Apps
Open-source office suite ONLYOFFICE released its 10.0 major update, embedding context-aware AI tools in document, spreadsheet, presentation, and PDF editors. Organizations can choose which AI models to use, including local ones for server deployments.
Four modular apps were released under AGPL v3: AI Agents, Forms, Files, and Rooms. The update includes over 50 new features, more than 1,000 bug fixes, and 35 security vulnerability patches across online, desktop, and mobile editors.
The open-source editions do not include the AI tools by default and require separate installation. The ability to connect custom AI models in server environments is the standout feature for enterprise users.

Steam Introduces Achievement Sets in Beta
Valve’s October 15 Steam Client Beta update introduced Achievement Sets, a new system for organizing game achievements into groups. Developers can categorize achievements by mode, class, or content type, such as a singleplayer-multiplayer split.
Completing a set earns a profile trophy, and that completion status persists even when new achievements are added later. Developers can create new sets for DLC or seasonal content. The same update moved the Linux client to 64-bit and redesigned the achievements page.
Steam’s achievement system had seen no structural changes since launch. Achievement Sets is a meaningful improvement for games with extensive DLC libraries, letting players track progress in a more granular way.
PEAK Console Launch Confirmed for October 22
Indie co-op climbing game PEAK is launching on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch 2 on October 22. Co-published by Aggro Crab and Landfall, the console versions feature full cross-play across all platforms.
The digital price is $6.99, with a PS5 physical edition arriving December 9 at $19.99. The physical edition includes an extra game code and a Passport kit. Console versions ship with all post-launch updates from Steam, including new biomes, items, and custom mountain runs.
PEAK earned strong reviews on Steam and is now broadening its reach. At $6.99, the pricing strategy prioritizes accessibility over per-unit revenue.
