AMD Acquires Fei-Fei Li’s World Labs for $8.2 Billion
AMD announced a definitive agreement to acquire World Labs in an all-stock deal valued at $8.2 billion. World Labs founder Fei-Fei Li will join AMD as executive vice president and chief scientist. This ranks as AMD’s second-largest acquisition ever, behind the $50 billion Xilinx purchase in 2022.
World Labs builds spatial-intelligence models that generate, reconstruct, and simulate interactive 3D environments from text, image, and video inputs. The company also develops technology for robotic learning and simulation. The acquisition gives AMD critical capabilities for next-generation autonomous machines, from self-driving cars to robots.
The transaction is expected to close by year-end, subject to regulatory approval. AMD is accelerating its push beyond chips into AI software.
Anthropic’s IPO Prospectus Reveals $518 Billion Infrastructure Plan
Anthropic’s confidential IPO prospectus, obtained by Reuters, outlines $518 billion in AI infrastructure spending over the next seven to ten years. The commitments include $111.1 billion with Google, $110 billion with Amazon, and $31.4 billion with Microsoft, payable regardless of usage.
Revenue reached $4.6 billion in 2025, roughly 12 times its 2024 total. The company reported a $42 billion net loss, though $34 billion of that came from an accounting charge related to convertible financing revaluation, not operating expenses.
The prospectus frames AI as a transformation greater than industrialization and the internet combined. Anthropic’s IPO valuation could exceed $2 trillion.
OpenAI DevDay 2026: 20+ Product Launches Including Personal AI Agent Dots
OpenAI unveiled Dots, a personal AI agent built into ChatGPT, alongside more than 20 other products at DevDay 2026. Powered by GPT-6 Astra, Dots is an always-on agent that handles phone calls, texts, Slack messages, and email. Each Dot gets a customizable 3D avatar and can make purchases on the user’s behalf with approval.
GPT-6.1 Sol was also announced. It nearly matches GPT-6 Astra’s performance on agentic coding, computer use, and professional tasks at one-fifth the token price. A new collaborative workspace called ChatGPT Space rounds out the major releases.
Dots rolls out first for Pro and Business Premium subscribers. The product competes directly with Meta’s personal AI agent, Muse.
