HiddenLayer Closes $100M Series B for AI Agent Security

Austin-based AI security startup HiddenLayer closed a $100 million Series B led by Delta-v Capital, with Ten Eleven Ventures, Morgan Stanley, Microsoft’s M12, and Booz Allen Ventures participating. Total funding now exceeds $155 million.

The round centers on agentic runtime security. HiddenLayer launched Agent Harness Security, a product that monitors and blocks AI coding agents at runtime when they access file systems or networks. Policy-based controls govern what autonomous agents can and cannot do during execution.

Annual recurring revenue grew more than 10x, and the company signed over 50 new platform customers spanning securities, banking, insurance, pharmaceuticals, airlines, and U.S. defense and intelligence agencies. As agentic AI adoption accelerates, runtime security is emerging as a distinct market category.

Gimlet Labs Raises $300M for Multi-Silicon AI Inference Cloud

Gimlet Labs closed a $300 million Series B at a $3 billion valuation. Andreessen Horowitz led the round, with Arm Holdings and Microsoft’s M12 joining as new investors.

Gimlet takes a different approach from conventional inference clouds. Rather than building around a single accelerator architecture, it assembles heterogeneous data centers that combine GPUs, CPUs, near-memory compute, and dataflow processors. Different portions of the same inference workload get routed to the processor type best suited for each task.

The funding will scale the serverless platform’s infrastructure capacity by several hundred megawatts. Gimlet is also developing a motherboard-less inference server designed for deployment outside traditional data centers. With inference cost reduction becoming a central industry challenge, chip diversity offers a compelling path forward.

NVIDIA Unveils NVHBM Custom High-Bandwidth Memory

NVIDIA announced NVHBM, a custom high-bandwidth memory technology that expands the NVLink Fusion program. The key innovation is integrating the memory controller into the 3D HBM stack’s base die rather than keeping it on the XPU.

This architecture delivers up to 30% greater memory bandwidth, 15% lower HBM power consumption, and frees up to 25% more area on the XPU compute die compared with standard HBM4E. NVHBM is built on the same technology NVIDIA will use for its own future GPUs. A standardized implementation available from multiple memory providers reduces engineering effort for NVLink Fusion customers.

Amazon’s chip design subsidiary Annapurna Labs is the first co-development partner. NVHBM is not a replacement for commodity HBM but rather a high-performance option for custom AI chips within the NVLink Fusion ecosystem.

Lenovo Demonstrates Rollable Laptop Project Swan at IFA 2026

Lenovo unveiled the ThinkBook Project Swan concept at IFA 2026. A flexible OLED display extends horizontally from 14 inches to a 17-inch, 16:9 widescreen. A roll-and-slide mechanism synchronizes the structural extension with the display’s movement.

At 17.9mm thick and 3.5 pounds, Project Swan avoids the bulk penalty that plagued earlier rollable concepts. It runs on an Intel Lunar Lake processor. The goal is combining the portability of a 14-inch notebook with the screen real estate of a 17-inch display in a single device.

Pricing and release dates remain unannounced since this is still a proof of concept. Durability and battery life questions persist. However, hands-on impressions suggest this iteration is closer to production-ready than previous rollable laptop attempts.

Scan.com Raises $220M to Expand Medical Imaging AI Network

Medical imaging marketplace Scan.com closed $220 million in combined financing. The deal includes a $90 million equity round led by Noteus Partners and $130 million in debt facilities from VerisFi Capital and Atempo Growth.

Revenue doubled over the past year to surpass a $165 million annualized run rate. More than 900,000 patients have accessed care through the Scan.com network globally. The company is investing in its API and agentic AI infrastructure for patient routing, scan scheduling, and diagnostic result delivery.

The capital will fund expansion of its U.S. imaging provider network and M&A activity. Scan.com’s model turns medical imaging into an API contract for health plans and employers, bypassing traditional referral bottlenecks.

OpenClaw 2.0 Ships Massive Update from 933 Contributors

The open-source AI agent platform OpenClaw released v2026.8.1, branded OpenClaw 2.0. The release represents 16,000+ merged pull requests from 933 contributors, 569 of them first-timers. Changes span installation, the browser app, memory, skills, security, and plugins.

The headline feature is credential isolation. Agents request secrets through a masked prompt so the actual values never enter the chat transcript or the model’s context window. An opt-in proxy restricts where those secrets can be sent, addressing a core concern for enterprise adoption.

Shared cloud sessions make the platform collaborative. Authorized team members can join ongoing agent sessions, assign tasks with full context, and hand off work. The installer now auto-detects existing ChatGPT or Claude subscriptions, API keys, and compatible local models, streamlining onboarding. The update signals a clear push toward enterprise readiness.

PlayStation State of Play: FF7 Revelation Confirmed for April 2027

Sony hosted State of Play on September 3. The marquee announcement was Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final entry in Square Enix’s FF7 remake trilogy, confirmed for April 8, 2027. Around 10 minutes of gameplay showcased Highwind exploration, chocobos, and grapple gun traversal.

Release dates landed for Until Dawn 2 (January 28, 2027) and Metro 2039 (February 4, 2027). Maneater 2 was revealed as a surprise new title. Ghost of Yotei’s narrative expansion Echoes of Sekigahara arrives October 1 alongside a free Combat Survival Mode.

Marvel’s Wolverine got a final showcase ahead of its September 15 launch. Two limited-edition GTA 6 DualSense controllers open for preorder on September 10.

Nintendo Announces Back-to-Back Zelda and Switch 2 Directs

Nintendo scheduled the Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct for September 8 at 7 AM PT, running approximately 30 minutes. The broadcast will cover a variety of information celebrating the series’ 40th anniversary.

The following day, September 9, a general Nintendo Direct airs at the same time for approximately 45 minutes. Switch 2 games launching this winter take center stage. Treehouse Live follows with extended gameplay of featured titles.

Back-to-back Directs are unusual scheduling. Combined with BlizzCon 2026 (September 12-13) and Tokyo Game Show (September 17-21), September is shaping up as the gaming industry’s biggest announcement month of the year.

Blood of Dawnwalker Launches to Strong Reviews

Rebel Wolves’ debut title Blood of Dawnwalker launched on September 3, earning an 83 on Metacritic and 84 on OpenCritic. The studio was founded by former CD Projekt Red developers.

Set against the backdrop of 14th-century Europe during the Black Death and a vampire uprising, the open-world RPG features day-night gameplay shifts and branching story choices as its core hooks. Character writing and player agency received particular praise across reviews.

Repetitive quest design and launch-day performance issues drew the most criticism. Despite those caveats, the consensus holds that Rebel Wolves delivered above expectations for a debut studio release.
