Harvey AI Raises $550M at $15.5B Valuation

Legal AI startup Harvey closed a $550 million round co-led by Diffusion and Lightspeed Venture Partners. Sequoia, a16z, GIC, and Goldman Sachs Alternatives also participated.

Harvey’s tools are now used by 80% of Am Law 100 firms and five Fortune 10 companies. The company recently shipped its own post-trained open-weight model and launched the Legal Agent Benchmark (LAB).

The round nearly doubles Harvey’s valuation from $11 billion nine months ago. Building proprietary models and benchmarks signals a shift from wrapping general-purpose AI to developing domain-specific capabilities in-house.

NSA, CISA, and FBI Warn of Chinese AI Distillation Campaigns

U.S. intelligence agencies issued joint advisory AA26-251A on September 8. The advisory names six Chinese AI companies running industrial-scale knowledge distillation against U.S. frontier models.

DeepSeek, Moonshot AI, Alibaba, MiniMax, StepFun, and Z.AI extracted billions of tokens from Claude, GPT, Gemini, and Grok starting in late 2024. They spread requests across accounts, used proxies and third-party API aggregators, and obfuscated metadata to bypass geographic restrictions.

The advisory describes these campaigns as “the core” of the named companies’ AI development strategy. It recommends U.S. AI providers detect suspicious accounts and quietly degrade their access. Frontier model protection has now been elevated to a national security concern.

Google Commits 13B to Finnish AI Infrastructure

Google will invest at least 13 billion euros in Finland over the next two years. It is the company’s largest single-country investment outside the United States.

The centerpiece is a 22-year power purchase agreement covering 50% of Fortum’s Loviisa nuclear plant capacity. The deal starts small in 2028 and scales to full capacity from 2030 through 2049. It marks Google’s first nuclear power agreement outside the U.S.

Google will expand its existing Hamina data center hub and build three new facilities in northern Finland at Kajaani, Muhos, and Vaala. The company also secured 629 MW of onshore wind and a 94 MW battery system. Construction is expected to contribute roughly $4.2 billion to Finnish GDP and support about 7,000 jobs annually once operational. Finnish opposition parties have raised concerns about strain on the national power grid.

Google ARTEMIS: Natural-Language Android Automation

Google released ARTEMIS, an open-source tool that turns natural-language instructions into Android device automation. It scores above 99% on the AndroidWorld benchmark.

Native MCP (Model Context Protocol) integration lets AI coding assistants like Claude Code and Codex drive real Android devices through plain-language commands. An Optimistic Asynchronous Pipeline delivers 3 to 5 seconds per step.

ARTEMIS runs from the command line with uv run artemis run or integrates into pytest and CI/CD pipelines via its Python SDK. It supports over 10 hours of continuous exploratory testing, making it a practical tool for both development and quality assurance.

i-have-adhd: ADHD-Friendly Coding Assistant Prompt

The i-have-adhd project hit GitHub trending at number one, gaining over 4,700 stars in a single day to reach 36,500 total.

It is a prompt skill that rewrites how AI coding assistants respond. Instead of verbose explanations, it forces action-first numbered steps with concrete next actions at each stage.

The project’s rapid adoption reflects growing awareness that default AI assistant output does not work equally well for all users. It demonstrates how a single well-designed prompt can fundamentally change the user experience for neurodivergent developers.

gods-eye-view: Real-Time 3D Globe from Public Data

gods-eye-view reached 22,100 stars with 1,600 new stars in one day. It is currently trending on GitHub.

The JavaScript project aggregates public data feeds covering flights, ships, satellites, earthquakes, traffic, and public cameras onto a photorealistic 3D globe. Users can explore the data interactively in real time.

It sits at the intersection of GIS and data visualization, making multiple public data sources accessible through a single interface. The project highlights ongoing interest in tools that lower the barrier to working with geospatial data.

Nintendo Direct 9.9: Metroid, Kirby, and Zelda Remake

A 45-minute Nintendo Direct aired on September 9, focusing on Switch 2 titles coming this winter.

Metroid Ravenous was announced as the follow-up to Metroid Dread. Samus Aran gains a new ability to absorb enemy life force in this 2D action platformer. A new open-world 3D Kirby game was also revealed, with four amiibo figures launching November 12.

Pre-orders opened for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, due in early November. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort arrives October 22, and Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 remasters hit Switch 2 on October 16.

Square Enix Reveals TGS 2026 Lineup

Square Enix announced its lineup for Tokyo Game Show 2026, running September 17 through 21 at Makuhari Messe.

Kingdom Hearts IV is set for late 2027 on PS5, Xbox, Switch 2, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. Kingdom Hearts Collection [I through III] launches natively on October 8.

A playable demo of Final Fantasy VII Revelation will be available at the booth. Trailers for FF XIV: Evercold and FF Resonance will also premiere. Three photo spots themed after the FF VII Remake trilogy round out the booth experience.
