NVIDIA Signs Definitive Agreement to Acquire Hugging Face for $12.93B

NVIDIA entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Hugging Face on September 2, in a deal valued at approximately $12.93 billion. The transaction consists of roughly $11.9 billion in cash and up to $1 billion in equity retention for staff.

Hugging Face hosts 3 million models, 1 million applications, and 500,000 datasets used by over 18 million developers. The SEC filing indicates the acquisition is expected to close in the first half of next year.

This is NVIDIA’s second-largest acquisition on record, following the $20 billion Groq deal in December 2025. It completes a vertical integration spanning from GPU silicon to the model marketplace. CEO Jensen Huang stated that Hugging Face will remain an open platform for the entire AI ecosystem.

OpenAI Launches Agents API Public Beta

OpenAI released the Agents API in public beta on September 10. The API exposes the same infrastructure that powers Codex to external developers through a single API call.

The API is organized around four primitives: agent (model, tools, MCP servers), environment (optional sandbox), session (durable stateful instance), and events/items (inputs and outputs). It supports long-running agents with context compression and multi-agent collaboration.

No additional fees apply beyond usage costs. Pricing follows a pay-per-use model based on tokens and tool usage. Deployment options include OpenAI’s managed sandboxes and partner infrastructure from Cloudflare, DigitalOcean, and Oracle.

McKinsey: 32% of Organizations Replaced Software Purchases with AI Coding Agents

A McKinsey 2026 State of AI survey found that 32% of responding organizations had decided against purchasing at least one software product because AI coding agents could build the functionality in-house. The survey covered 1,719 respondents across 97 countries.

Among organizations with over $1 billion in annual revenue, 40% were scaling AI agents in at least one function, up from 27% a year earlier. The trend is particularly pronounced in technology, healthcare, and professional services.

If this trajectory holds, it signals a structural shift in the traditional SaaS buy model. However, the total cost of agentic systems — compute, tokens, and internal development — needs to be weighed against the savings from cancelled purchases.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Revenue Jumps 121%

Oracle reported Q1 FY2027 earnings on September 11, with cloud infrastructure (IaaS) revenue surging 121% year-over-year to $7.4 billion.

The company booked over $30 billion in new AI cloud contracts during the quarter, pushing its remaining performance obligations (RPO) to $664 billion. Full-year FY2027 revenue guidance was raised to at least $90 billion, with non-GAAP EPS projected at $8.10.

GAAP net income reached $4.7 billion (up 60%), and non-GAAP EPS came in at $1.92 (up 30%). The results underscore just how strong enterprise demand for AI cloud infrastructure has become.

Adobe Q3 Beats on Revenue but Stumbles on Outlook

Adobe reported Q3 FY2026 earnings with revenue of $6.76 billion, up 13% year-over-year. Non-GAAP EPS of $6.13 exceeded estimates by a narrow margin.

However, next-quarter revenue guidance of $6.8 billion to $6.85 billion fell short of the $6.85 billion Wall Street consensus at the midpoint, sending shares lower. AI-first annual recurring revenue topped $650 million, growing more than 150% year-over-year, but that was not enough to calm investor concerns.

Adobe crossed the milestone of one billion monthly active users, yet competition from AI-powered design tools continues to weigh on the outlook for the broader creative software market.

FuriosaAI Opens Singapore Office to Drive APAC Expansion

South Korean AI chip startup FuriosaAI established a Singapore subsidiary, its fourth global hub after Seoul, Silicon Valley, and Lisbon.

The company’s second-generation AI inference accelerator RNGD (Renegade) is built on TSMC’s 5nm process and has been in mass production since January 2026. It ships as PCIe cards and server units optimized for LLM and multimodal model inference.

The Singapore office, led by APAC VP of Sales Addison Chi, will handle technical validation through production deployment for cloud providers and public-sector clients across the Asia-Pacific region.

LibreOffice 26.8 Ships Paragraph Composer, Skips AI

LibreOffice 26.8 shipped on August 26 for Windows, macOS, and Linux in over 120 languages. The headline feature is a Paragraph Composer for Writer — a text layout algorithm that balances word spacing across consecutive lines within a paragraph.

The release adds RTL and bidirectional text support and improves Microsoft Office file compatibility. Development involved 206 contributors, 155 of them volunteers.

The Document Foundation described the absence of AI features as “a deliberate position, not an accident.” It is a notable contrast to the AI-centric roadmaps of competing office suites.

Archify Tops 36K GitHub Stars for AI-Powered Architecture Diagrams

Archify, an agent skill that turns natural-language descriptions into interactive architecture diagrams, surpassed 36,000 GitHub stars with over 3,700 added in a single day.

It works as a skill for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and other AI coding agents. It supports five diagram types: architecture, workflow, sequence, data flow, and lifecycle.

When a user describes a system in natural language, the AI agent produces typed JSON IR, and Archify deterministically compiles it into self-contained HTML/SVG diagrams. Install it with npx skills add tt-a1i/archify -g.

BlizzCon 2026 Opens with StarCraft Reveal Expected

Blizzard brings BlizzCon back on September 12-13 at the Anaheim Convention Center after a two-year hiatus. The official schedule features a conspicuous gap that lines up with a StarCraft announcement.

The StarCraft website has been displaying intentional glitch effects, teasing a new reveal. Rumors point to a third-person shooter led by Far Cry veteran Dan Hay, though nothing has been officially confirmed.

Updates for WoW: The Last Titan, Diablo IV, and Overwatch 2 are also on the agenda. A legacy match between BoxeR and Nal_rA in StarCraft: Remastered rounds out the event.

GTA 6 Locked for November 19 Launch

Rockstar Games has definitively confirmed a November 19 release for GTA 6 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The date comes after two delays — from 2025 to May 2026, then to November.

Rockstar North Head of Development Rob Nelson stated in a late August interview that the game will ship on schedule. Rockstar issued a formal apology for the delays, citing the need for additional polish.

Industry projections put first-week global sales between $3.25 billion and $5.2 billion. Combined with Tokyo Game Show running its longest-ever five-day format from September 17 to 21, the fall gaming season is in full swing.
