OpenAI Launches GPT-Live-1 API

OpenAI released the GPT-Live-1 API on September 10. GPT-Live-1 is a full-duplex voice AI model that listens and speaks simultaneously. The conventional voice AI pipeline runs through three separate stages: ASR (speech recognition), LLM (language model), and TTS (speech synthesis). GPT-Live-1 collapses all three into a single model.

The model handles pauses, interruptions, and direction changes in real-time conversation. OpenAI reports a 30% performance improvement over the previous GPT-Realtime-2.1 in real-world evaluations. The underlying technology first shipped in ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Mode in July before being extended to the developer API.

For developers building voice agents, the key benefit is architectural simplicity. Instead of orchestrating a three-stage pipeline, a single API call handles real-time voice conversation end to end.

Salesforce Agentforce: Seven Job-Ready AI Agents

Salesforce added seven purpose-built AI agents to Agentforce on September 11, ahead of Dreamforce 2026. Each agent handles a specific business function: Casey (customer service), Paige (IT/HR), Carter (commerce), Hunter (outbound sales), Marshall (supply chain), Piper (inbound pipeline), and Fin (customer experience).

Casey, Paige, Carter, Piper, Fin, and Marshall are generally available now. Hunter enters pilot with general availability planned for November 2026. Salesforce reports 7 billion Agentic Work Units processed through Agentforce and Slack, with 3.2 billion in Q2 alone.

The approach stands out for offering pre-configured agents by job role rather than a generic agent builder. Enterprises can deploy agents matched to specific business functions without designing them from scratch.

Visa, Mastercard, and Ant International Develop KYA Framework

Visa, Mastercard, and Ant International are co-developing a Know-Your-Agent (KYA) interoperability framework for AI agent identity in commerce. The three companies previously operated separate protocols: Trusted Agent Protocol (Visa), Verifiable Intent (Mastercard), and Agentic Mobile Protocol (Ant).

KYA aims to reduce repeated identity checks when an AI agent moves between payment networks, wallets, and marketplaces. Core components include cross-network operator traceability, shared certification requirements, and continuous transaction monitoring. This is infrastructure for an era where AI agents execute purchases, not just recommendations.

Industry projections estimate AI agents will mediate $3 trillion to $5 trillion in global consumer commerce by 2030. Three major payment networks agreeing on standardization signals that agent commerce is moving from concept to implementation.

Positron AI Challenges Inference Market with Asimov Chip

Positron AI raised $875 million in a Series C at a $5 billion valuation. The Reno-based startup is building Asimov, an inference-specific chip. Its defining feature: LPDDR5X commodity memory instead of HBM (high-bandwidth memory).

HBM is a bottleneck in the current AI chip supply chain. It is expensive and supply-constrained. Positron AI argues that commodity memory can deliver sufficient bandwidth for inference workloads. A single Asimov chip carries 288 GB of on-package LPDDR5X, expandable to 2.3 TB through CXL.

Tapeout on TSMC’s N3P process is planned for late 2026, with production targeted for H2 2027. The funding covers chip tapeout, a data center and emulation platform rated above 2 MW, and LPDDR5X supply commitments. The bet is that the memory architecture, not the compute die, is where inference economics can be reshaped.

OpenClaw Sets GitHub Growth Record

Personal AI assistant OpenClaw became the fastest-growing project in GitHub history. On March 3, 2026, it passed React’s decade-long record at 250,829 stars in just 60 days. By August, the repository had roughly 380,000 stars, 81,000 forks, and 2,500 contributors.

OpenClaw runs directly on user devices and integrates with existing messaging channels. Austrian developer Peter Steinberger (@steipete), who previously founded PSPDFKit, started it as a weekend project in November 2025. Originally named Clawd, it was renamed to OpenClaw on January 29, 2026.

GitHub Responds to Open Source “Eternal September”

GitHub published its plan for supporting maintainers through the “Eternal September” of open source. The spread of AI coding tools has driven a surge in pull requests and issue submissions across open source projects. The term references the 1993 influx of new Usenet users when AOL opened access.

AI makes it straightforward to generate code and submit PRs. The burden of reviewing that output falls on maintainers, whose capacity has not scaled accordingly. GitHub plans to provide automated triage and spam filtering tools so maintainers can focus on meaningful contributions.

ENDLESS Legend 2 Launches 1.0 on September 17

Amplitude Studios’ turn-based 4X strategy game ENDLESS Legend 2 exits early access with its 1.0 release on September 17. The full launch arrives one year after its September 2025 early access debut. It will be available on PC (Steam, Epic), PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

The 1.0 release adds a new playable faction, two rogue factions, and one minor faction. A sequel to the original ENDLESS Legend (2014), it is developed by Amplitude Studios, now a Sega subsidiary.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds Exits Early Access September 15

Jagex’s survival crafting game RuneScape: Dragonwilds launches in full on September 15 across PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. It will also be available through Xbox Game Pass on day one.

The game already surpassed one million copies sold during early access. The 1.0 version includes the Scorned Wilderness update and Umbral Sands expansion content. It marks a new direction for the RuneScape franchise among 2026’s survival crafting titles.
