Moonshot AI Kimi K3.1 Pro Drops Open Weights Today
Chinese AI lab Moonshot AI is releasing the open weights for Kimi K3.1 Pro on November 4. The model uses a Mixture-of-Experts architecture with 2.8 trillion total parameters, 104 billion active, and a 1-million-token context window.
On the Vals AI benchmark, it ranks 8th out of 27 models with a 62.52% Vals Index score. Moonshot’s own Terminal-Bench score of 65.7% puts it close to Claude Opus 5.5 at 66.4%. API pricing sits at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens.
Moonshot deliberately removed cybersecurity-related training data from the open-weight version. The license has not been disclosed yet, which means the release cannot be fully evaluated for commercial use until it drops alongside the weights.
Palantir Q3 Revenue Hits $2.3B Record, Commercial Overtakes Government
Palantir Technologies posted Q3 2026 results with $2.313 billion in revenue, up 96% year over year and 20% quarter over quarter. Quarterly revenue topped $2 billion for the first time.
GAAP operating income reached $1.085 billion at a 47% margin, adjusted operating income $1.427 billion at a 62% margin, and GAAP net income $1.128 billion. The actual EPS of $0.44 handily beat the analyst consensus of $0.36 on expected revenue of $2.00 billion.
The bigger story is the revenue mix shift. U.S. commercial revenue ($984 million) surpassed U.S. government revenue ($953 million) for the first time. Adjusted free cash flow came in at $1.216 billion, with cash and U.S. Treasuries totaling $10.4 billion.
Big Tech and Semiconductors
Marvell Signs $115B All-Stock Deal to Acquire Lumentum
Marvell Technology signed a definitive merger agreement on November 1 to acquire AI photonics specialist Lumentum Holdings. The deal is structured as an all-stock transaction with Lumentum shareholders receiving 4.5 Marvell shares per share, implying an enterprise value of approximately $115 billion.
Post-close, existing Marvell shareholders will hold roughly 67% of the combined company. The acquisition adds optical interconnect and photonics capabilities to Marvell’s custom silicon strategy, creating a vertically integrated AI infrastructure play.
Since Bloomberg first reported the talks on October 28, Marvell shares have dropped over 13% on concerns about the acquisition premium, dilution from new share issuance, and the burden of running this integration alongside the ongoing Celestial AI acquisition.
KOSPI Drops 3.59% as Semiconductor Stocks Sell Off
South Korea’s KOSPI fell 3.59% to 5,648.79 on November 3, while the KOSDAQ shed 4.08%. The selloff was driven by the U.S. tech correction spreading into domestic semiconductor equipment and component stocks.
Semiconductor equipment shares fell across the board, dragging the KOSDAQ below the 712 line. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index in the U.S. has now retreated nearly 30% from its June high.
KB Securities issued a W-shaped recovery forecast for the sector, setting target prices of KRW 600,000 for Samsung Electronics and KRW 3,500,000 for SK Hynix. The brokerage projects HBM prices to rise 121% year over year in 2027, with commodity DRAM up 40% and NAND up 32%.
Startups
Traversal Raises $120M at $1B to Build AI Site Reliability Agents
AI site reliability startup Traversal has raised $120 million at a $1 billion valuation, reaching unicorn status. Kleiner Perkins, Redpoint Ventures, and Khosla Ventures co-led the round, with Sequoia Capital and Amex Ventures participating.
Founded by Cornell faculty, Traversal builds AI agents that automatically diagnose software outages. The company emerged from stealth in June 2025 with $48 million across seed and Series A rounds led by Sequoia and Kleiner Perkins.
In March 2026, American Express made a strategic investment and deployed Traversal’s platform internally. This latest round brings total funding to approximately $170 million.
Wabi Reaches Unicorn at Series A with $55M Consumer AI Round
Consumer AI startup Wabi has closed a $55 million Series A at a $1.25 billion valuation, reaching unicorn status at its first institutional round. The deal reflects continued investor appetite for AI-native consumer applications.
AI remains the dominant theme in early November startup funding. From site reliability to consumer products to developer security, AI-driven companies are consistently landing oversized rounds.
Open Source
Kimi K3.1 Pro Set to Become the Largest Open-Weight AI Model
The Kimi K3.1 Pro open weights, due November 4, will be the largest AI model ever released as open weights at 2.8 trillion parameters. It significantly exceeds DeepSeek-V3’s 671 billion parameters, the previous open-weight heavyweight.
Moonshot stripped cybersecurity-related data from both mid-training and reinforcement learning stages for the open-weight version. The company stated it does not intend to “extend the absolute frontier of cyber capability” through open releases.
The missing piece is the license. Without it, researchers and companies cannot assess whether the weights can be used commercially, fine-tuned, or redistributed. The open-source community is watching closely.
agent-desktop: Rust CLI for AI Desktop Automation Hits GitHub Trending
A Rust-based CLI tool called agent-desktop that controls desktop applications through OS accessibility trees has landed on GitHub Trending. Licensed under Apache 2.0, it supports macOS 13.0 and above.
Unlike screenshot-based approaches, agent-desktop reads structured accessibility data, cutting token usage by up to 80%. It is part of a broader pattern in November’s GitHub Trending: AI agent infrastructure tools dominating the charts over model releases or consumer apps.
Gaming
VOID/BREAKER 1.0 Graduates Early Access with PS5, Xbox, and PC Launch
Solo developer Daniel Stubbington’s FPS roguelite VOID/BREAKER hits version 1.0 on November 4, launching simultaneously on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam) at $29.99.
The game is included in Xbox Game Pass (Ultimate, Premium, and PC) from day one. Early Access owners receive the Supporter’s Pack featuring Joe Ford’s soundtrack for free. Published by Playstack, the 1.0 release adds new weapons, bosses, stages, and achievements. Demo progress carries over.
Game Days 2026 Opens November 9 at Lotte World Tower
South Korea’s content agency KOCCA hosts Game Days 2026 on November 9-10 at the SKY31 Convention in Seoul’s Lotte World Tower. CD Projekt Red, Shift Up, and other studios are participating.
November 10 features the Game Production AI Transformation Showcase, sharing results from AI adoption in game development. Console and indie game demos, plus developer-platform networking events, round out the schedule. The broader November gaming calendar is packed, with GTA 6 (November 19) and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake (November 5) among the headliners.
